Riot has once again meted out justice to the toxic and antisocial players plaguing League of Legends.
Punished players
Earlier today, Riot posted on their official website a new wave of competitive ruling against multiple players. The post details their offences and also includes a list of players who are formally warned about their behaviour in the recent past.
To begin with, Diamondprox, Jungler of Gambit Esports, is being subjected to a $1,000 penalty for his behavior in the Korean Solo Queue. His offenses include toxic conduct and the decision to fine him comes with respect to a previous incident in the LCL.
Invictus Gaming’s TheShy is also being hit with a fine. The decision is brought on by multiple reports for intentionally feeding, griefing and generally bad behavior in solo queue. So far, this is TheShy’s first offense and he will have to pay $1,000.
Afreeca Freecs’ Head Coach iloveoov is being fined $1,500 for his conduct. Interestingly enough, Riot says that iloveoov was reported in over 70% of the ranked games that he played in September, which amounts to around 80 matches. The fine is given due to the high number of complaints from players and the level of toxicity displayed by iloveoov.
Uzi, AD carry for Royal Never Give Up, is being fined the most from the four. His offenses took place during the boot camp practice for the World Championship and they include griefing, feeding, and account sharing. Reportedly, Uzi had been playing on accounts that were not registered to him, which is a major breach of the Riot Terms of Service. Whether he was boosting another player or simply playing on their account is unknown. Due to these infringements, Riot is fining Uzi $2,000.
One could argue that Uzi got off easy, considering his offenses. Other players have received suspensions from competitive play for similar reasons. In recent weeks, Dire Wolves’ Shernfire was prohibited from playing in his team’s first two Play-In matches, which may or may not have contributed to the team being eliminated from the event. Had something like this happened to Uzi, RNGU would have been in a very compromised position.
Player Warnings
In addition to the four fined players, Riot also made mention of twelve other professional gamers who are in breach of the rules of conduct. While their offenses are not fine-worthy, these players are issued a formal warning that continuing down the same path would ultimately lead to a penalty or suspension. The list of formally-warned players includes:

- Comet – Afreeca Freecs
Regarding Cloud9’s Svenskeren, who has been previously fined and banned for using racist slurs, Riot comments:
Of note from the above list, in issuing a warning to Svenskeren we did not take into consideration the competitive ruling against him in 2014 because of the length of time between since that ruling and the lack of recidivism since then. Over the last four years, multiple behavior checks against Svenskeren’s accounts have not raised any flags. In addition, the language used by Svenskeren in connection with this warning was not culturally insensitive. Taking all of these factors into consideration, coupled with the fairly low instances of reported instances on the KR server, we believe a warning is appropriate in this instance.
