PokerStars has announced sponsorship of Brazil’s FURIA online poker site.
The partnership has been said to revive both companies and provides poker and sports communities with “one-size-fits-all entertainment opportunities and content.”
The agreement led by PokerStars ambassador and FURIA CEO André Akkari has taken the pair together with a group of poker streamers. In August 2017, Akkari was one of the best professional poker players in the world before forming FURIA alongside Jaime “raizen” Pádua.
“Furia ‘s DNA has a natural function for poker,” Akkari said. “There is a question of making the best choices for long-term success right now. When we move beyond eSports the relationship is a natural step towards expansion.
FURIA has announced plenty of sponsorships with such esports betting sites such as Rivalry, both having ties to esports.
The deal will include marking the PokerStars in FURIA’s official uniform, on the left and right sleeves. The organization is known for its counter-strike: the world offensive roster, but also a team from the Brazilian Championship League of Legends.
Rebecca McAdam-Willets, PokerStars’ Associate Director of Public Relations added: “Furia’s team is working really hard, leading by example. This system and the overall ethos of PokerStars are really good for what we want. It will be exciting for us to see what our group would offer and how we can involve new people by working with such an energetic team.
Traces of PokerStars date back to May 2016 when the organization funded 3 Team Liquid Players in the sports industry. Stars Group, now Flutter Entertainment parent company in PokerStars, announced the launch in November 2017 of ‘Power Up,’ an esports-like card game designed to tighten up a more competitive virtual poker player.
