French CS: GO team G2 esports has received an invitation to participate in the PLG Grand Slam. The $100,000 tournament was recently announced and we are yet to find out about the remaining invitees to the tournament.
G2 esports has not had the best results in the recent months. The fact that they have received the first invitation definitely points to the event being a Tier 2 / 3 event. The French team has some of the best talents in Counter-Strike, yet it has failed to produce results. With Ex6ternz and KennyS in one roster, this team has a lot of potential. However, they recently swapped out a couple of players out of the team in June 2018. The team wanted ‘more time’ to start producing results, but four months later we are yet to see something decent from the team.
We are truly honoured to receive this invitation for the first edition of the Grand Slam. A part of us already had the opportunity to travel to the UAE and Dubai for a tournament in 2015, it was a fantastic experience and we are really excited to get the opportunity to come back for an event that promises to be even more spectacular! See you there ” #G2ARMY

Bienvenue, G2! pic.twitter.com/guYxHo4sUd— Power League Gaming (@plgbuzz) October 16, 2018
For G2, this will be a wonderful opportunity to start winning some silverware. The quality of their opposition at this tournament will not be the best. It is the perfect chance for the French roster to gain some prestige and glory for themselves and the French scene in general. With the formation of another French team in the form of Team Vitality, this is an opportunity for G2 to assert their dominance.
The 2018 PLG Grand Slam
The PLG Grand Slam will take place on the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Featuring a prize pool of $100,000 this tournament will see sixteen participants battling it out on LAN. The tournament will take place from December 12-16, 2018. Eight of the sixteen teams will receive direct invites, while the rest will come via online qualifiers.
The PLG Grand Slam focuses mainly on providing an opportunity for teams that are looking for a breakthrough. We are not aiming to create a world-class spectacle but rather a high-standard event that will have all necessary elements for a player, team, talent member, and spectators to enjoy being a part of.
“The hospitality offered will be something unique as the event is hosted in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi and players & talent will get to enjoy cool perks such as Ferrari World, Yas Waterpark, Yas Marina F1 Marina Circuit and Yas Beach beside staying at the 5-star hotel of Yas Hotel (Viceroy). We will make sure all attendees are treated well and the tournament runs as smooth as possible. See you in Abu Dhabi!
Abdullah Al-Ghafari, Manager of Operations.
