The Kuala Lumpur Major is the first Major for the DPC Season 2018 – 2019. There will be a prize pool of $1 million for the event. However, what is probably more important to the top teams in Dota 2 is the 4950 DPC points on offer. These DPC points will go a long way in helping the teams qualify for TI9.
The value of the DPC points is more for the current season, mainly due to the lesser number of Majors and Minors. 2018-19 will have just 5 Majors and 5 Minors. The DPC points available via the Minors are too low to actually pose a threat to the Major winners.

The list of teams invited to the closed regional qualifiers has been released by PGL. It has several strong rosters from each of the five different regions. However, there is one notable absence from this list: The International 2018 winners, Team OG.
The road to #TI9 start with #thekualalumpurmajor . A new story will be written for this teams in the close qualifiers .

This absence was obviously quite obvious and the community began to ask questions. After all, Team OG is the winner of the highest esports prize pool ever. They won a total of $ 11,234,158 after winning the Grand finals versus PSG.LGD.
Team OG decline the invitation
According to a press release by PGL, OG did not accept the invitation to the regional qualifiers. There was never any doubt about an invitation to the International winners. But for reasons best known to them, OG did not accept the invitation. They will give up the opportunity to earn precious DPC points as a team.
Regarding @OGesports , we reached out to #ogdota2 to invite them for the Closed Qualifier. They declined the invitation and will not be participating at the Kuala Lumpur Major

Notail clarifies their decision is due to the hectic travelling
[twitchtv url=”https://clips.twitch.tv/CuriousHotHedgehogFloof”]The team captain, Notail has clarified that their decision not to accept the invitation is after considerable thought. The team has been travelling across the world for several months now and they wanted a break. This decision will obviously cost them the opportunity to earn DPC points and potentially qualify for TI9. But OG is confident in their ability to stay on top of their game and obtain enough points in subsequent majors.
How much will it impact their chances for TI9?
There are going to be Five Majors for this DPC season. Each Major will have a minimum of $ 1million as prize pool and 4950 in DPC points. However, there is no limit to the maximum prize pool for any tournament. So there might as well be Majors which have a much bigger prize pool than the minimum amount.
If a Major has a higher prize pool, it will also have a higher allocation of DPC points. But for a team like OG, there is no guarantee that they can actually win any Major. After all, there is always the likes Virtus Pro, Team Secret, Liquid who dominated most of the previous season.
The Kuala Lumpur Major will commence on the 9th of November and will feature 16 of the world’s best teams.
