Optic Gaming’s management problems seem to have no end in sight. The organisation has seen problems across various levels and on various teams. Recently the Optic India player, Forsaken was caught cheating live on LAN at the Intel Zowie Extremesland 2018 Tournament.

However, Optic Global initiative which aimed at ensuring a decent foothold for Optic throughout the world seems to be coming to an end. With limited resources and the strain of having to manage teams all over the world seemed to be a bit too much for the parent organisation.

It started with Optic India as they let go of the entire team following the Forsaken incident. However, Optic has now also announced that they will part ways with Optic Brasil. The Optic Brasil roster is an all-female roster which is the strongest team in Brasil. They were undefeated and had provided the best results for the team.

The venue for the event is the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The tournament will see participation from several top tier teams including Astralis, Na’Vi, Team Liquid, Faze Clan and Mousesports.

With such a team lineup, it is bound to create for exciting gameplay and performances at the event. The group stages for the tournament have now been revealed on the official website.

Group A:

  • Astralis

The tournament will have a different form of seeding wherein the players will be able to provide a balanced group stage. One of the biggest concerns with most of the CS:GO tournaments has been poor seeding leading to lopsided events.

For IEM Chicago 2018, we have decided to use a new seeding method called “Player-Selected Seeding”. This concept uses teams’ knowledge to create an accurate present ranking of all teams participating at the event. All participants are asked to provide their subjective rankings of their opponents, which are then combined to determine the full tournament seeding. More details on how the seeding format worked and why it was employed are at the bottom of the post.
