The Grand finals of the CS_Summit 3 saw NRG and Optic gaming come head to head. The action unfolded in a dramatic fashion as Cerq managed to get an ace on the very first pistol round in the finals. The insane aim of the player was clearly evident with the USP. For NRG, they could not have had a better start to the series. With this ace, Cerq was obviously feeling himself and it was evident throughout the series.

Despite the strong start to the pistol round, Optic actually managed a very good half. With a 8-7 scoreline, NRG had all the necessary components to secure the map. However, they failed to hit their shots and they were in dire economic conditions to establish a proper defence.

While Optic was able to string a few rounds together, NRG quickly answered with multiple round victories fo their own. Such round trading only leads to an advantage for the Terrorist side. However, true to their Danish roots, Optic was able to win almost impossible rounds to gain an advantage. They secured Map 1 with a very close 16-14 scoreline, far less convincing than what we expected on Nuke.

Map 2: Overpass

With the win on Nuke, Optic only managed to tie the series 1-1. Coming from the upper bracket, NRG had a one map advantage when it comes to the Grand finals. So essentially the Grand finals now was simply a Best of Three matches without Nuke.

It could not have got better for NRG as they stomped Optic Gaming on their way to the trophy. Overpass T side was nothing to write home about, despite some amazing individual plays. One round saw Optic win the full eco [ with just Glocks] just because Nahte had an AWP. This was not the outcome that NRG expected, as Jugi got 4 kills with the AWP.

However, it was the NRG CT side that was an epitome of defence. They simply did not allow Optic any room to manoeuvre. They had a splendid defence, despite Optic throwing everything they had at them.

Map 3: Mirage

Map 3 saw Brehze, the eventual MVP of CS_Summit 3 take over the map like a boss. He was able to run through Optic Gaming wherever they went on the map. With a 30-12 KDA, there was no stopping the player.

NRG did not have the best start especially since they lost round 2 to a forcibly. However, they were able to recover in the latter stages of the first half. The Halftime score was 10-5, pretty decent considering they were down 1-4 at a time.

Once again, Optic never really seemed in the game during the second half. This time it was on their CT side that Optic failed miserably. NRG won all but one round in the second half to comfortably win the map 16-6.

With this map win, NRG secured the series and the championship. They take home a cash prize of $63,750 from the event. Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte won the CS_Summit 3 MVP award.
