Guinevere Capital, a New Zealand-based investment firm, has teamed up with Logitech G, Spark, and Eden Park to open an esports facility in the country.

The Spark Esports Hub is housed in Eden Park, New Zealand’s largest stadium, and includes training facilities, a 5G mobile gaming area, and an esports event venue.

Spark will control the 5G area, with Logitech G providing audio, streaming, and peripheral items for the hub. According to the press release, the Spark Esports Hub will be used by some of Australia and New Zealand’s “best players,” including the Dire Wolves.

“Following a difficult year globally, we’re excited to finally be able to open the doors to the Spark Esports Hub,” said David Harris, Managing Director of Guinevere Capital.

“Our success centres are dedicated to advancing esports research and training philosophies while also supporting local communities. The fact that two industry giants, Spark and Logitech G, have committed so heavily to the project demonstrates the importance of esports in the area and its extremely promising future.”

Guinevere Capital’s newest facility, the Spark Esports Hub, is the company’s latest venture. The investment firm currently operates esports hubs at Twickenham Stadium and the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia.

The Eden Park Esports High-Performance Centre, which is intended to become a gaming community centre, is part of the hub, in addition to providing a training facility for esports teams. As a result, the centre will host weekly leagues for young athletes.

“The Spark Esports Hub is going to play a crucial role in the growth of ANZ esports, serving as a training centre for teams like Dire Wolves, while also providing a central hub for esports and gaming fans to share ideas and compete,” said Jason Spiller, owner of Dire Wolves and architect of the Spark Esports Hub.

“The iconic Eden Park venue also draws in new audiences and helps to establish New Zealand as a global esports destination.”
