With Jin Air already destined to compete in the relegation match after a disastrous season, their opponents are yet to be confirmed. After losing many of its key players in the transfer market, kt Rolster, Gen.G, and Afreeca Freecs are already out of the playoffs. They will be competing on the last day to avoid relegation battle against Jin Air.
High hopes for Gen.G
In the case of Gen.G, with a game to its advantage, the side seems the best positioned to avoid relegation. They also hold a 38% map win rate which is the best amongst its bottom placed rivals. However, they cannot afford to take matters lightly because they will be competing against, DAMWON and SANDBOX. Both the sides have secured the playoffs. Meanwhile, SANDBOX is still in contention for the second place of LCK. They will give their all to defeat Gen.G and get that spot, so Gen.G will truly have to fight for the right to stay in the LCK.
Afreeca Freecs has a unique challenge ahead, and this is against SKT that also fights for that square bracket. Either of the team will get direct access to the semifinals. Meanwhile, a loss will throw the team to compete for the third place.
Finally, the reigning champion of the LCK, Kt Rolster will face Hanwha Life and DAMWON. Two teams that are really not playing for anything on the final day. Nonetheless, they will be the ones to decide which team will go to the promotion pit.
Who will be the last team standing?
The difference in maps between kt and Afreeca is very tight, with a slight advantage to Gen.G depending on the results of this last day. Meanwhile, in terms of the direct duel between them, all results are tied. So everything could be decided on the map win percentage and send a former Worlds participant World Cup to the depths of the Korean Challenger. They will have to compete against rivals like ES Sharks, or the Prince APK of KaKAO and Mickey.
The stage is set for one of the most exciting last series of games in the LCK. The fans are ready to see their favorite teams fighting against the odds to claim the right of staying in the LCK.
