The Capcom 2018 tournament was an event filled with upsets and surprises. The favourite for Capcom Taniguchi “Tokido” Hajime dropped out early out of the tournament. He was the 2017 Evo Champion and despite being the favourite to win Capcom, he was unable to make it deep in the event..
In the end only a single fighter can be the #CapcomCup2018 Champion.
His name?@gachikun0423 the Wind of Japan!

Instead, the tournament boiled down to several upsets and surprise results through to the finals. Kanamori ‘RB|Gachikun’ Tsunehori gathered a total of 17 points after defeating players from Echo Fox, NASR and DNG. In the Grand finals, he faced off against Red Bull Hx Bonchan.
Gachikun used speed to his advantage
In the Grand Finals, Bonchan chose the bulky Abigail which gave him a huge size advantage. However, Gachikun rode his trademark Rashid, with the fast pace and swiftness working to his advantage. Dodging blows and using his quick manoeuvrability to his advantage, Gachikun was quickly able to secure a 2-0 lead. Bonchan used Abigail’s comeback potential via the V – Trigger to secure the third game. However, Gachikun closed out the series and won the championship in the final game.
With this win, Gachikun wins $120,000 while Itabashi Zangief gets $60,000. Neither finalist was expected to reach the Grand finals and it was a dream run for the young player. Their earning from Capcom will also receive a boost via their shares from Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s CPT 2018 DLC sales. You can find the entire bracket here.
