The star personality of the broadcasting platform, Twitch, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins turns 28 today. His birthday marks another accomplish year for the player.
Ninja has had his fair share of success in the competitive world of Fortnite in the last year. Yet we believe that his 27th year was the one that truly made him a star in the business.
In the battle royale title, Ninja was nearly the first player in the world to get 100,000 kills. He accomplished this feat by competing against a fellow streamer Jimmy “HighDistortion” Moreno. Jimmy won the the race but Ninja is still amongst the first one’s to reach the mark. One thing we know for sure that, Ninja was the first player on PC to get 5,000 wins. At the time of this writing, only nine players have accomplished this impressive record.
Ninja loving the limelight
The developing company of Fortnite, Epic Games also partnered with the Twitch sensation for events like Creative World Cup. He also hosted the qualifiers of the competition and also designed Trails for the event.
Owing to his popularity, Ninja extend his reach beyond Fortnite. In February, the player got into the tide of Apex Legends. He quickly became one of the top streamer’s of the game as won some early tournaments like the: Code Red and Twitch Rivals. He made impressive records on Twitchs. His success was replicated later on only by Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar and Michael “shroud” Grzesiek.

As he rose in ranks, Ninja became the face of gaming world. He recently made appearance on television on the shows hosted by Ellen DeGeneres’ and Jimmy Fallon. This granted him recognition to a more wider audience than the gaming community. He also was the star of multiple events like the New Year’s Eve at Times Square and Lollapalooza.
Media platforms from across the globe started to recognize the success of Ninja. Since he was in the 2019 Forbes list of 30 under 30. He was also feature on the ESPN magazine cover. This recognition of the players enabled him to earn millions. In 2018, he managed to earn $10 million. It helped him to launch his own clothing line and also became the face of the energy drinks brand, Red Bull.
Some troubles on the way
Apart from the limelight, ninja also faced some controversy in the past year. A few months ago in an interview with Polygon, he refused to host streams with women. Afterwards, he clarified that he made the statement to avoid scandals from the media. Since his acts might lead the viewers to think that he is flirting. After these words, no streamers was upset, but the who community thought that Ninja might have gone over his head.
Ninja also got some hater after he ordered bans on some of the opponents whom he thought were stream sniping. This led to Ninja losing a fair chunk of his audience. Nonetheless, he is still amongst the top streamers in the gaming world.
