With the Overwatch League Season 2 coming closer with each passing day, we have yet another team announcing its branding. The Hangzhou based franchise will be called the Hangzhou Spark. It is one of the three new Chinese Overwatch teams for the upcoming season of the Overwatch League.
The team will go by the name of The Hangzhou Sparks. This is the third and final new team for Season 2 after the Guangzhou and Chengdu teams. The teams are called the Guangzhou Charge and the Chengdu Hunters.
The team has a pink and blue colour scheme. Bilibili Gaming is the owner of the Hangzhou franchise. It is a video sharing website based in China. Users can submit, edit as well as comment on these videos. BiliBili also aims to provide live streaming services to gamers and become the dominant Video sharing website in China. Their entry into the Overwatch league is obviously a way to increase their presence and familiarity in the Chinese esports scene.
We’ve staffed the team with world-class players and coaches. We’re confident in how the team will perform and we’re excited to see them in action when the 2019 season starts. We also hope fans will continue to create and discover more thrilling content on the bilibili platform, as well as interact with fellow Overwatch gamers in the bilibili community.
Hangzhou’s first player signing.
The team has already announced its first player signing. The Bilibili owned franchise has signed Xu “Guxue” Qiulin to their team as the main tank player. The rest of the team will be formed around the player and team synergy will be crucial in their future decisions.

Despite Hangzhou being only one of three new Chinese Overwatch teams, they are the first to sign a Chinese player. Most of the other teams have relied on signing Korean players on their roster. Guxue has played on Team China and has put forth some really strong individual performances
