Fnatic has emerged as the better Western team in their battle against Cloud9. Despite North American Grand final dream coming to an end, Cloud9 fans can be proud of what they achieved. As for Fnatic, they were already a strong favourite going into the tournament. As we head into the Grand finals against Invictus Gaming, it is going to be the best Western team competing.

Throughout the semifinals, Fnatic was the more dominant roster. They had full control of the map, the economy as well as multiple lanes. They had an idea of their gameplan and when they are stronger in the game.

The first map saw Fnatic win on multiple fronts. Cloud9 never really stood a chance in this game. The score was very lopsided as Cloud9 stood at 3 kills for a very long time. Broxah and Caps were phenomenal on their respective hero and the coordination on this team was very evident.

The second game was probably the only game where cloud9 had an advantage during the series. The early game advantage, however, was not translated into mid game dominance for Cloud9. While they dominated the early game, they were not really able to handle Caps.

Broxah’s Rek Sal was the only noticeable thing in Game 3. Fnatic had an early lead and they never let the pressure off Cloud9. Despite Cloud9’s loss being a somewhat sad ending for the NA fans, it is a good result.

The best Western team will compete against LCK

Cloud9 secure the 3-4th place and will take home a cash prize of $136,000. This year the Worlds 2018 will not have a South Korean team in the Grand finals. This is a rarity since the Grand finals have featured at least one South Korean team for the past 5 years.

For long, the western teams have not been able to mount much of a challenge. With Fnatic winning the semifinals, we will now have the best Western team competing against Invictus Gaming. The Worlds 2018 Grand Finals is a Best of Five matchups. The two teams will play on November 3rd. All the matches can be seen live on Twitch.
