His role on the team comes at a time when the team is preparing for the upcoming season. Most of the teams in the Overwatch League have seen massive changes to their roster. They want to ensure that the team is prepared for the upcoming season. There is also the added pressure of not being the first team to lose to Shanghai dragons.

Robert Yip was a former League of Legends coach for Immortals. His transition to the Overwatch League has been smooth and he will be crucial to developing player relations. The role of the performance coach takes away a lot of pressure from the players. They do not manage their daily lives and Robert will help the team focus on developing their game. He was announced as the performance coach for all Misfits teams a while ago, and that includes the Florida Mayhem.
