The tournament organiser announced today that both BIG and Copenhagen Flames were invited to FLASHPOINT’s global qualifier in March.
The teams of AVEZ and Skade from Sweden, Chaos and We are North American Orgless, DETONA Gaming and Redemption POA from the United States will enter six teams from the national online qualification teams. The regional training will take place from 3 to 5 March at FACEIT’s Los Angeles office.
Since ESL modified its format and cut the team list in half, BIG was one of the teams that lost their ESL Pro League spot. According to HLTV’s world rankings, in January the German team led by “tabseN” Johannes Wodarz won the DreamHack Open Leipzig, which is now the 25th best in the world.
On the other hand, after qualifying for ESL One Rio Major European Minor, Copenhagen Flames broke into HLTV’s top thirty this week. The squad includes mostly Danish rookies, excluding René “TeSeS” Madsen and Asger “Acilio No” Larsens, former OpTic Gaming players, who were mainly involved in the SK Gaming events of 2015 and 2016. It announced that AcilioN had held talks to replace Nestor “LETN1” Tanić with c0ntact Gaming, a franchise partners of FLASHPOINT.
The regional qualifier FLASHPOINT uses the best-of-three bracket double disposal format with the top two teams advancing into season 1 FLASHPOINT.
FLASHPOINT is the current CS: GO League and the first team organisation. There are currently six franchise partners in the League, including MIBR, Dignitas, Cloud9, c0ntact Gaming, MAD Lions, and Gen. G.
