IEM Sydney 2019 will take place from 30th April 2019 till the 5th of May 2019. The tournament has garnered a huge following especially with the multitude of fans from the Australian continent. IEM Sydney 2018 was one of the more successful events for the event organiser. Over the past few years, we have seen ESL expand to other territories for esports events. They have forayed into countries like Brazil and Australia.
ESL returns to Australia with the IEM Sydney 2019 event in early May. The event will see a prize pool of $250,000. The event will see participation from a total of 16 teams. It will take place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. The format for the event will be the double elimination GSL Format. Two teams from each group will advance to the next stage of the event. With each team getting two chances to prove themselves on the big stage, seeding does take precedence in such a format.

Renegades is the first team to receive an invite to the event. The Renegades roster is a consistent feature in IEM Sydney events. Being from Australia, the local lads have a huge fan following in Sydney. The crowd cheers for the team despite the roster itself not being one of the top teams in CS: GO.
This is the first invite to the event. We will receive more news of further teams attending the tournament in the upcoming weeks. Eight teams will receive direct invites to the tournament. The remaining eight teams will have to earn their place via various online qualifiers.
