ESL announced a new partnership with Shadow Esports, a Berlin-based data startup (Shadow.GG).
As part of the agreement, the distribution of Shadow.Esports GG’s Widget – a data tool created next to Bayes Esports in 2020 will be expanded by ESL. No specific information has been disclosed on distribution plans.
In addition to the other features, Shadow.Esports GG’s Widget provides a detailed 2D map of the game that can serve as an add-on or live stream replacement. When the widget was first announced last year, official channels, computer vision and 24/7 manual monitoring were used as a facilitator for the curation of data.

“We are very happy that we have won ESL as the leading Dota2 and CS:GO tournament hosts to promote our widget solution, and that they have relied on us in order to influence fans’ involvement with their valuable brand,” said Benjamin Riewe, CEO of Shadow.GG.
According to an official ESL blog post, widgets like the one produced by Shadow.GG are even more important these days, since they provide ‘attractive visuals and statistic data that help viewers to immerse themselves in the experience.’
The two subsidiaries of Bayes Esports and Shadow.gg are Bayes Holding. In March of this year, ESL and Bayes Esports broadened their relations. In 2020 ESL Gaming started to use the CARP parser for Bayes Esports. The tool allows the extraction and structure of large data sets automatically. Because the parser can extract more data points and display complete 2D playback live and during the game in higher quality.
