Dreamhack comes to Asia for the first time
Dreamhack Mumbai marks the first time that Dreamhack will come to Asia. Despite being a global leader in esports events, Dreamhack has never taken a risk with the Asian market. However, their decision to step up their efforts in Mumbai, India is a step in the positive direction.
DreamHack has always been the epitome of the celebration of gaming and esports globally and we are delighted to partner with Dreamhack on their Indian journey. India with its dynamic youth and famed hospitality is a great beachhead into bringing the DreamHack experience to Asia. Their reach to the youth of our country is unparalleled and we look forward to the convergence.
Akshat Rathee, Founder and CEO, NODWIN Gaming
Dreamhack Mumbai 2018 will see two national teams as well as two international teams. This mixture of teams from the country and abroad is a steady balance for the teams. Fans will be able to engage with their favourite teams as well as some of the International stars. Unfortunately, Dupreeh has already confirmed that Astralis will not be attending the event.
What to expect at the event?
Dreamhack Mumbai 2018 will be a multi-game event. It will have titles such as Counter-Strike Global Offensive, Dota 2. However, the event will also feature KO Fight Nights as well as an unnamed Mobile Cricket Game.
In addition to this variety of games, the event will play host to BYOC ( Bring Your Own computer events), streamer zones, Cosplay events and interaction with players. The ticket prices for the event are priced at Rs. 399 [ which is around $5.50]. This is truly a step ahead in a country where esports events entry have been free of cost. But Viacom 18 feels that fans are ready to pay for these events, a belief that is supported by Comic Cons in India where there are entry fees.
The event will feature a ‘retro zone’ which will provide access to several arcade games at the venue. Fans will also be able to view and experience the latest technology and hardware from sponsors and companies.
The timing of the event is crucial as it overlaps with Comic-Con Mumbai 2018 [ at the same venue]. This timing is crucial since Goregaon [ the venue ] will be host to a very young audience.
Dreamhack Mumbai 2018 will take place from December 21-23, 2018 at Nesco, Mumbai. The matches will be available for live viewing on Voot [ a Sony video content platform exclusive to India].
