Valve introduces new CS:GO patch, enabling the MP5-SD in competitive games and making small tweaks to certain popular maps.

MP5-SD now available in competitive matchmaking

The “new” sub-machine gun – the MP5-SD – is as of this patch, available to buy in competitive matchmaking. The MP5-SD was introduced in a previous patch in August though it was only accessible in Team Deathmatch and other non-ranked game modes. With more than a month of testing, Valve has deemed it suitable for competitive play.

The current iteration of the MP5 is quite similar to the already available MP7 SMG, albeit with some minor differences. The reload speed of the MP5 is moment shorter than that of the MP7 and it also comes with slightly lower damage output. The MP7 deals 28 damage to unarmored opponents when hit in the chest and arm areas, while the MP5-SD deals 26. Similarly, the MP7 deals 35 damage to an unarmored enemy when hit in the stomach, while the MP5-SD only inflicts 33. This means that it takes an extra bullet to kill an enemy at full health.

What is noticeably different, however, is that the MP5-SD comes equipped with a silencer, making its shots undetectable on the minimap. The two weapons share the same buy slot and can be purchased by both Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist teams.

Map Changes

With the latest patch also come small tweaks to official maps. Nuke is seeing some minor changes, particularly on the Terrorist side. The corridor leading to Ramp will now be somewhat wider. Those who enjoy playing on the T side on Nuke will no doubt appreciate the change, given that it is a major choke point and a good spray or Molotov can completely shut off a T advance.

Another change is introduced on Train, more specifically on the A bomb site. The ceiling of heaven will now feature grenade collision, as it should have. Moreover, some visuals changes are being implemented to make things easier on players. Specifically, certain angled pieces on the bomb train are being removed. Moreover, the A site will also feature better player collision, making the game more precise.

Office is receiving some small changes, namely in the location of particular furniture and the widening of the garage gate at CT spawn. Furthermore, the CT FBI models have been improved and are now available on Office, Nuke, and Agency.
