This upcoming first major Dota 2 major of the year will be unique because it will be missing one of the main competitive regions. A few days ago, Perfect World announced that the Chinese teams won’t be attending the Stockholm Major due to the ongoing COVID situation in China. But there is good news for all the fans of Chinese Dota and good Dota games in general.

Perfect World announced the DPC CN Tour 2 Regional Final tournament. It’s going to be played from May 6 to 8. Even if the Chinese teams won’t be able to attend Sweden, you’ll still be able to watch them fight it out in an elimination bracket. The regional finals have a prize pool of $100,000 and 750 DPC points and today we will go over the participating teams in the Chinese Regional Final.

PSG.LGD

  • Wang “Ame” Chunyu
  • Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang
  • Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida
  • Zhao “XinQ” Zixing
  • Zhang “y`” Yiping

PSG.LGD was definitely the strongest team in the DPC CN 2022 Tour 2 as they reached 1st place without having to play a tiebreaker, like a lot of teams in other leagues. This situation might be frustrating for the two-time TI finalists who will miss their chance to perform against the best teams in the world. And considering their recent results, PSG. LDS were really strong contenders for the ESL One Stockholm Major title.

Xtreme Gaming

  • Lou “lou” Zhen
  • Zhang “Paparazi灬” Chengjun
  • Ren “old eLeVeN” Yangwei
  • Xiong ““Pyw” Jiahan
  • Ding “Dy” Cong

Compared to the rest of the Chinese teams playing in the DPC, Xtreme Gaming might be one of the newer faces. This would’ve been the first appearance in a Major for Xtreme Gaming. They finished in 2nd place after playing a tiebreaker against Team Aster, where they completely dominated the opposition. They only dropped two series during the whole season and those were against the other 2 teams in the top 3. If Xtreme Gaming manages to win the regional finals it’s going to be very motivating for them.

Team Aster

  • Du “Monet” Peng
  • Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang
  • Lin “Xxs” Jing
  • Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao
  • Yu “Siamese.C” Yajun

Team Aster had a really dominant performance this season where they beat first place team PSG.LGD. Monet managed to demonstrate his true potential as Team Aster’s main carry. Compared to the rest of the Chinese teams in the competition, Team Aster has some of the oldest players in Ori (26) and 皮球 (25), and while some people might think of this as a disadvantage, it’s clear that Team Aster knows how to use this veterancy in their favor.

Royal Never Give Up

  • Zhong “圣子华炼” Liushua
  • Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao
  • Yang “Chalice” Shenyi
  • Chong “FelixCiaoBa” Wei Lun
  • Yap “xNova” Jian Wei

RNG is the 4th seed of the tournament, but they shouldn’t be underestimated. They might seem considerably weaker than the current top 3, but they have very experienced players. Somnus is one of the most renowned Chinese Dota 2 players and he’s managed to get deep into the TI playoffs stage multiple times. If Royal Never Give Up finds their group early in the tournament, they might cause some upsets.

Even if the Chinese teams won’t be playing against the international competition, this tournament will be very exciting to watch. Stay tuned as we’ll be covering the matches happening in this regional final from May 6-8, a few days before the Stockholm Major.
