Blizzcon 2018 is a means for game publisher Blizzard to promote its various titles. They regularly release updates on Diablo, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm. This year they also announced the Warcraft 3 Reforged edition with cleaner Graphics and better animations.
In addition to this, Blizzard also announced that it will be taking Diablo Franchise to more platforms. Blizzcon 2018 saw the announcement of Diablo’s arrival on Nintendo Switch. The aim to go via the mobile platform makes a lot of sense for the game publisher. Mobile Gaming is easily the fastest growing segment in gaming, it is also the one that has high percentages of profits.
Diablo Immortal
Diablo Immortal is set in the twenty years between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. The storytelling and the lore will provide a perspective on what happened that allowed for the changes leading to Diablo 3. Blizzard and NetEase have jointly developed Diablo Immortals. It will allow for an online multiplayer experience.
The Worldstone lies shattered, yet great power remains within its corrupted fragments. The power that Diablo’s minions hope to harness to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror. The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions. Fragments of the corrupted Worldstone taint the land, bringing forth ancient evils who are looking to harvest the stone’s power and use it to control humanity.
Blizzard also stated that they will provide constant updates via new characters and storylines to make it an evolving experience for the player base. It will also allow Blizzard to potentially tap into the micro-transactions mobile market with such a hit franchise to their name.
Players will be able to drop in and out of groups. They will also be able to take part in Dynamic events in the Sanctuary. Battling through the Dungeons by hacking
Diablo Immortals will definitely see a lot of takers. The first look at the game does make it seem like Blizzard has kept the classic Diablo feel alive. For now, Diablo 4 is still in development, although we did not get any information at Blizzcon 2018.
