The 2022 PMPL SEA Spring Championship is the ultimate battle of the SEA region, and is set to take place from June 10th to June 12th this year. The event will be hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in an offline LAN format.
The tournament will feature the best 16 SEA teams battling in a total of 18 matches to determine the ultimate champion in the 2022 PMPL SEA Spring Championship. The 16 teams consist of five Thai teams, four Malaysian teams, three each from Indonesia and Vietnam, and only one from Taiwan. Twelve of these teams qualified via their respective regional PMPL battles, while the other three qualified via SEA Play-ins tournaments.

There are some teams to watch for within the tournament. Team Secret, the current defending champions, have been directly invited to the event and are looking to have a back to back trophy. Unfortunately the team overall played poorly in the PMPL Malaysia Tournament and was placed 15th in the finals. Team Spirit was also struggling in the league stages, as such it will definitely be a big task for them to defend their title.
Thailand’s representative Bacon Team was by far the most consistent team in the region, lastly they missed the title by just a few points. This time, they will be aiming to earn the coveted trophy with even more effort. Team Infinity, who dominated way back in 2021, will also look to strike back and perform at their best in the championship.
Evos, Ion, and RRQ Ryu have all demonstrated aggressive and non orthodox strategies within their respective performances in the PMPL at different stages, and they all possess enough talent to win. Vietnamese teams have always punched above their weight in most eSports scenes and PMPL is not the exception, but this time they would like to go for the title to leave the dark horse mentality behind.
Popular Indonesian team Bigetron RA sadly could not make it to the championship as they had a horrible performance in the Play-Ins stage. The team placed fourth in the PMPL Indonesia ,qualified for the Play-ins, out of which only the top three teams have made it to the event. They were the runner-up in the 2021 Fall Championship.
A huge name within the industry in Faze Clan, who was the second runner-up in the 2021 Championship, also failed to qualify for the event, something the community definitely didn’t see coming. The team finished 13th in the SEA Play-Ins stage.
As similar PMPL events around the world, this tournament will feature a hefty prize pool of $150kusd and will be broadcasted on the official PUBG Mobile Esports YouTube channel.
